Think about the whole service

The job is to transport school pupils with care. Driving between two addresses is only part of that work. A useful way to organize your learning is before, during, and after the trip: preparing the vehicle and assignment, carrying out the service with clear communication, and finishing with the appropriate checks and records.

Three kinds of preparation

Academy lessons help you understand ideas and rehearse decisions. The RMV's application process establishes certification requirements. Your employer and trainer help you prepare for the particular vehicle, assignment, and operating procedures. Progress in one area does not establish completion in another.

Start there when you need to understand an application requirement. Ask for help with your own circumstances instead of treating a short lesson as a complete application checklist.

Turn uncertainty into a question

For this learning exercise, choose one part of the job you cannot yet explain. Make the question specific: who will show me the inspection routine for this vehicle, where are the current assignment instructions, or what is my next application step? A specific question gives an employer or trainer something concrete to answer. Keep personal records and medical information out of your academy notes.
